Neil Gower is one of the four illustrators who worked on the Penguin Boys’ Adventure series released at the start of this year (or nearer the end of last year I think).
Very keen on his cover art for The 39 Steps, which I’ve spent about an hour scouring the internet for a high resolution image of. I couldn’t find one, so instead here’s a slightly pixelated version that doesn’t do the image any justice.

Ferocious Quarterly Issue 02 is up for preorder (with shipping still stupidly expensive that stopped me buying the first issue).
The issue is titled The Purple edition, and is split into two halves - red and blue. They have a quite impressive lineup of illustrators with work submitted, including this piece by Matthew Lyons that caught my eye.

This poster by Heads of State seems to be doing the rounds, but it’s too nice to not post myself.
Inspired by Chapter 4 of The Great Gatsby, which spends a fair bit of time listing all those who attended Gatsby’s wild parties, Heads of State have put this poster together that consists of a collection of business cards designed for each of the guests. Visual reference has come from found type and design from the 1920s.

Garbergs Reklambyrå have created this campaign to raise awareness of the amount of Homeless on the streets at Christmas.
The campaign is a take on the gingerbread house, portraying the kinds of places homeless people find themselves sleeping during Christmas.
Great execution and handled tastefully I think.

I usually avoid posting wedding invitation projects, purely because there’s just so many of them cropping up lately (I guess in time for a load of summer weddings).
However, Ken Rothermitch has put together a great looking invitation pack for his own wedding. The aesthetic is a a strange juxtaposition but it works brilliantly, designed in order to let guests know that the wedding would be formal, but “not totally traditional and uptight”.

Restoration Hardware have created this quite amazing vintage edition of Scrabble.
Buy it now and it will only cost you $160. Though to be fair though it looks like you get what you pay for (just look at that pull out drawer!)

Just encountered this old project from Bates 141.
Tasked with the challenge of promoting Photoshop CS4, the solution to the brief was to create a real life craft replica of the Photoshop user interface.
See the studio’s work here.
The image on their website is tiny so see a bigger one here.

I came across Tyler Fortney’s portfolio again, and found this fantastic project, creating all the ephemera for the 2008 Addy Awards.

The series features icons that people in the industry interact with on a daily basis, while also illustrating everything that is included in the awards ceremony, all in metallic gold.

It’s a great concept that’s brilliantly executed with it’s visual style. I’m surprised I missed it first time round posting his work this project is way better…like ever.

Jeffrey Docherty has a really striking portfolio that oozes reserve, subtleteys, and typographic detailing.
This branding identity for ‘MoochMag’, an online arts/culture blog for those who like to ‘mooch’ about the internet caught my eye.
Let it catch yours here. Scroll down to the second project on the page.

Nlightn looks like its shaping up to be a really great final year project from designer Bryan Jones.
Passionate about education, Bryan’s created and branded a company that specialises in tailoring curriculum to the specific needs of every child depending on how they best learn.
What’s even better is the system that lives behind his branding to create the dynamic mark that sees its application across all of the various pieces of stationary etc.

Angel A. Acevedo created this typographic presentation of one of the great moments during The Social Network.
View the highres version here
It’s also been put into a kinetic type piece which you can view here.
I’ve seen better examples of kinetic typography, but the scene itself is just brilliant to the point even listening back to it makes me want to go watch the whole movie again.
