Superbowl happened yesterday, and a long with it a fair few new film trailers and teasers for the big blockbusters coming this year.
One to watch out for is J.J.Abrams’ new film “Super8”. Also produced by Stephen Spielberg, the film looks like a great throwback to sci-fi adventure films of the 70s (Eg. Goonies/Close Encounters/E.T), and hopefully another step in the right direction of getting some blockbuster films out that are genuinely creative, fresh, and original.
What excites me the most is that this is a completely original concept. Yes it seems to be making homage to a lot of Spielberg’s early work (never a bad thing), but none of the story or characters are based on originally existing franchises.
