Just stumbled across Alex McLeod’s impressive model work, which he describes as

hyperrealistic 3D environments filled with crystalline mountains, fiery lakes, and rotund clouds, all rendered in a sickly sweet and gooey candy-colored palette.  Recalling the wide-open vistas of Romantic landscape painting while at the same time staging otherworldly dystopias

Maxime Quoilin is a Belgian Graphic Designer who put this branding/advertising project together as part of his final year project whilst studying at university. Although there are some elements of the branding that work better than others, I’m keen on the ad campaign he put together for ‘powerful water’. Quite what makes the water powerful I don’t know, but the sharks and speedboats sure make it seem so…

Pete Dungey is a recent graduate from Brighton. This project he worked on labelled a set of Alan Keys by establishing who were the most popular people associated with the name Alan. Love the practical presentation of the info graphic.

I’m in Paris for the next three weeks, and very fittingly stumbled accross this fantastic post on Designers books for a 1961 edition of the magazine n°UN ‘published for the members of an association dedicated to men’s elegance and its suppliers’.
Take a look at the brilliant layouts here.

Rob Fresson’s illustration portfolio was easily one of my big highlights of the entire Graduate showcase exhibitions in Falmouth this year and you’d be crazy not to check out his website here.

Perfume | Penguin design brief
The cover was designed to play on the misleading title, presenting an obvious perfume bottle then revealing the sinister nature of the story. The two faces that form the bottle represent the two primary victims in the tale, murdered for their precious scent.

Timeline
A spiral timeline between 1909 – 2009. The shape of this poster was determined by annual tree rings that grow year upon year, as the earth warms the distance between each ring grows.

RSA Stamps
RSA stamp design brief with the subject of ‘celebrating biodiversity’. I produced photographic stamps of endangered animals and each was textured to feel like the animals’ skin using a variety of techniques like embossing and flocking.

Colman’s Mustard
A self initiated project to repackage Colman’s English Mustard, in a fun, eccentric way, which embraced the quintessential English nature of the product. This was emphasised with the use of English slang that characterised the wide demographic of consumers who purchase Colman’s.

Kleenex Kids
With recent scares from viruses such as swine flu it is important to be hygienic whether child or adult. Children are actually among the most vulnerable and are capable of spreading viruses due to their contact with large groups of other children at school.
These packs aim to engage children in a fun way and get them into a hygienic habit from an early age. The on pack illustration works with the dispensing strip making a fun way for children to use tissues.

‘The IKEA D&AD brief asked to ‘inspire boundless change in peoples’ homes’. This response exploits the association that IKEA has with flat pack furniture; here is a new flat pack boyfriend to reinvigorate your life.
IVOR is a refreshing change, just as IKEA furniture is for your home, with the ease and speed of taking it home and assembling it yourself. As a range of posters, a new girlfriend as well as a new job are also available.’

It’s been far too long since updating my Tumblr feed.
The University College Falmouth Graduate shows are happening at the moment, and over the next week or so I’m going to be posting some of the work.
