The publishers say this much better than I ever would.

3 years, 148 posts, 904 comments and over 2.5m visits later,
Design Assembly (as we know it) is no more.

But, instead of slipping quietly into the night, we wanted to capture
all the energy that’s gone into making and maintaining the site and put
it to a greater cause — fighting cancer.

‘3’ archives over 100 published articles, comments included,
as well as showcasing new and exclusive words and images from
some incredible people.

It looks like a great piece of print design to top it off. Check it out here.

Lately Lily is an illustration / apparrel project put together by illustrator Micah Player and apparel designer Erin Nichols.
The character and her story (as she travels around the world) provides context for the items sold, as well as the general content and activitity on the site. It’s a nice new vessel for use of illustration but I couldn’t help but feel the whole concept could be pushed a lot more and used on other platforms a bit more successfully (eg. animated iPad app / catalogue).
However despite this it’s a neat package: fun to browse and friendly for kids.

For one of her MA Graphic Design projects, Emily Kane designed this ‘logo for the new space age’ - creating an entire brand around the space programme and space exploration.
Take a look at the rest of the surrounding work done HERE. Some bits work better than others, but see what you think.
This project was an exploration of the relationship between the space industry and graphic design, from the early space race of the 1950s and 60s to today.

Whether you’re a fan of either basketball of the player Lebron James - the new logo attached to the star is a nice piece of logo design work.
Take a look HERE to see more of a breakdown as well as merch applications etc.

Aggregate / discovery site StumbleUpon recently had a redesign/rebrand worth checking out. Although it probably won’t pull you away from Tumblr, the whole package is a much more simplified, user-friendly, and streamlined update.
BrandNew put together a nice breakdown of their thoughts here.

Directed by Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton, I’ve been avoiding the teaser trailers for ‘John Carter From Mars’- hoping it’s not going to fall too far into the ‘Avatar on Mars’ vein of things but perhaps fearing for the evident.
This teaser poster was recently released and was refreshingly eyecatching against the 13 common poster trends that were circulating the blogs last month.
